Do you provide marriage/couples counseling?

No, I do not.

Do you work with kids under 18?

No, only 18 and over.

Can I refer someone else who I think needs help?

I only accept referrals from people who call or set up an appointment online for themselves.

Do you see patients in the evenings or weekends?

Not currently.

What does Cigna out-of-network mean?

I can see patients who have Cigna, but since I don't have a contract with them, you pay me the full fee for the session, I submit the claim to them, and they send you a portion of the fee back (or apply it towards a deductible). Not all Cigna subscribers have out-of-network benefits, so you'll want to check with them about your specific plan.

Do you do mandated substance evaluations?

If you're required to have an evaluation, no. I don't provide any kind of treatment for people who are mandated.

How long is the first appointment?

I typically conduct a trial therapy that is two hours in length.

What is your response to the COVID-19 pandemic?

I'm providing in-office treatment unless we are otherwise told not to. I sanitize common high-touch areas between appointments (I have 15-20 minutes between sessions). For those not comfortable with in-office treatment, I am also working online. The mix of online vs. office days is constantly in flux due to what people are interested in. Most people seem to want to meet in person.

What's the cost if I don't use insurance?

I charge $130 for the initial evaluation. After that, each hour-long appointment is $120.

Do you offer online treatment exclusively?

Yes, I do. We can start and end without ever meeting in person.

Do I have to be in Vermont to work with you online?

I am only licensed in Vermont, so you must be somewhere within the state's borders at the time of treatment. You are not required to be a Vermont resident, only that you sit someplace in Vermont. For example, if you're a current patient of mine and travel to Colorado for a week's vacation and want to have an online appointment while you're there, I'm practicing in Colorado without a license, even if you're my patient.

What types of problems/issues do you work with?

I work with people who are experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, depression, difficulty with their anger, jealousy, and trauma.

Do you accept my insurance?

I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont, Vermont Medicaid (Green Mountain Care), CBA Blue, and United Behavioral Health. I am not in-network with Cigna or Aetna, but may be able to see you if you have out-of-network benefits. I am a non-participating provider for Tricare. If you'd like to use your Tricare insurance, please call them first to understand how this will work to see me. I do not take Medicare.

Do I need a referral from my doctor to see you?

No, you can schedule directly with me. Neither your insurer or your doctor has to authorize this.
